Matt Fine

Matt Fine is a strategic media specialist for RP&W. He joined the firm in 2006 and is responsible for media positioning, developing story lines and pitches, and media outreach for clients. Matt is an award-winning communications professional with extensive experience in education, broadcast journalism, print journalism, radio, public speaking, and public relations.

In addition to his work with RP&W, Matt is on the faculty of Temple University’s broadcast department. His primary focus is instructing classes in production, performance and writing for television. He established a new sports focus within the department, aimed at giving students the necessary background for a career in this area of journalism.

Matt is also in his fifth year as a freelance anchor/reporter for Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia where he does everything from anchoring a 30-minute sportscast, to covering live events and hosting sports specials. He has anchored more than 750 shows in the Philadelphia and Washington DC markets.

Matt began his professional career in 1993 as a news reporter for a daily newspaper in Wyoming. After earning a degree from Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism, Matt switched his professional focus to broadcast journalism. His first job was as a news reporter in Salisbury, MD. Ten months later, he left Salisbury for his first sports job in Portland/Bangor, ME. From there, he perfected his craft in major markets such as Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C. and now Philadelphia. He has received some of the industry’s highest honors, including the Edward R. Murrow award for sports reporting, the Associated Press winner for best sportscaster, and has been a three-time winner for best sports feature.

As a seasoned public speaker, Matt has helped raise money for many non-profit organizations. He has also used this skill to market products in a multi-media setting.

In addition to his Master of Science from Columbia University, Matt also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Clark University.

Matt demonstrates his creativity and his ability to handle pressure situations in both his professional and personal lives. He has completed four marathons over the last eight years, and he recently organized a community road race that doubled its monetary goal by raising close to $6,000 for charity. Besides running, he spends most of his free time with his wife and two boys – Adam and Evan.
