 John Wannenburg is a partner with RP&W.
In this position since 2005, he is responsible
for identifying and developing client strategies, including crisis communications, and managing the implementation process. He has more than 30 years of experience in public relations and marketing in both corporate and agency environments on two continents, having emigrated to the United States from South Africa in 1996.
Previously, John was associated with The Star Group’s public relations arm where he led the strategic development and implementation of campaigns for organizations such as SunGard Availability Services, ARAMARK and New Jersey Family Care. Prior to that he was vice president of corporate public relations for ARAMARK where he introduced a communications template for the company’s acquisitions, introduced an investor relations presence for the then private company, and managed a process which saw the company’s ranking in Fortune’s Most Admired survey of companies rise from 223 in 1997 to 91 in 1999.
Soon after settling in the United States, John joined the bi-coastal high tech PR firm of Neale-May and Partners in their New York offices where he provided strategic counsel to global management consulting firm A.T. Kearney’s automotive and IT practices. While in South Africa, John was a principal of the third largest PR firm there. His corporate experience in South Africa includes executive positions at Ford Motor Company and Xerox.
John studied English and Law at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa. He is a former reporter for The Evening Post, a regional daily newspaper in Port Elizabeth. He has served on the boards of the Philadelphia chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute and Philabundance.
